Dear Kip,
I have feelings for this guy, we haven’t dated yet for one reason… He’s my step cousin but we’re not blood related. My mother got remarried, but I already knew that guy for many years before that. So, now we are technically step cousins. Is it ok for us to date and get married? Am I better off finding someone else?

You are not cousins by blood therefore you two can get married. If you live in the United State there are a few States where this would be illegal. In those States your relationship to that person is considered the same whether it’s by marriage or by blood. Basically, first cousin and step first cousin are seen as the same.
Don’t let anything get in the way of your happiness… not even the law. There are wonderful places in the United States such as Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi where the sun shines down on your neck. “Interesting” marriages take place over there that make your step cousin dilemma a joke.

Incest (same or half same blood) is disgusting and wrong (Incest is generally not socially accepted and there is a risk of genetic mutation which can occur around the 7th generation of reoccurring incest. Basically, it takes 7 generations of same blood for strange things to be born).
If for some reason you start getting feelings for your siblings or first cousins… check yourself into a mental clinic.

Ok I have a similar delima. My aunt married this guy before I was born and the guy had already had two sons from a previous marriage. One of these sons and I love each other. We have no blood/genetic connections. Is this wrong? Are we step cousins or what? Is it illegal for us to be married just because his dad’s married to my aunt?

i'm in a very similar situation. i was good friends with this guy since i was like five. my uncle and his mother got married about three years ago. so that makes us step cousins, but we still just felt like good friends. since they are married we would hang out more and spend the night at eachothers houses. we developed feelings for eachother. we are both sixteen now and whenever we see each other and are alone we hold hands and kiss and act like a couple, but have to keep it a secret because our family and siblings especially wouldn't think it is okay. we can't tell our friends because the step cousin label makes it awkward. his mother knows, but understands the situation and doesnt draw attention to it for our sake. i don't know what to expect for the future. we love eachother. what is a reasonable aspiration to have for our future??
I have the same problem were not related but I FEEL like there is a spark there I keep seeing him all the time how do u know if someone is just being nice to you or really likes you.
