[ You Are Not Privileged! ]
I’m so pissed at… people who think they are privileged! I work part-time at a cigar shop in Tempe, Arizona and when I close after being open from 10a-1am, people still come up and see if I will sell them a cigar after I have closed and closed out the money for the night. Why is that? People don’t go up to McDonald’s after it is closed and jiggle the door to see if someone will sell them a hamburger and fries! It just amazes me that people will get upset because I’m closed and they can’t get their cigars. I’m a cigar smoker and I understand wanting a cigar but if you’re a real cigar lover you always have a backup!!!

Are you the business owner… is it a small business? Or are you working for some corporation or chain of stores?
See when you’re a small business owner and thats your business that you’re running, sometimes you’re willing to accomodate your customers to keep them happy and to keep them coming back. Therefore you’d be willing to extend your hours for 5 minutes if they come right as you close. McDonalds wont do that. The people who work there are just the people working for the corporation. They really could care less if it succeeds or fails. Therefore they dont have to accomodate anyone, even if its an 8 month pregnant woman who gets a craving at 2am for nuggets dipped in a chocolate shake. [I wouldnt know, Im just saying]
However, people should really observe the business hours and be considerate of others. I think that so many of us living here in America have this sense of entitlement and that we should always get what we want when we want it. We have forgotten how to care for others. Sad but true…
Good points.
I think customers should also be considerate of businesses. They can’t always have their way and many times the person working there is just like them… just doing their time and trying to get home as soon as possible.
You must have a glass door or windows with curtains?? Change it to a wooden door, and close the curtains. You’ll never know who is dying out there because the cigar store is closed.
I dont even see a point in complaining. Thats part of any business out there, people tend to need you more when your closed.
Deal with it, if you cant, than sell it or go get another job.
I think you’ll have problems like that in any small retail store. I worked PC retail for a bit and there’s always some dude at the door 5 minutes after you’ve locked everything down. We just sent people away after the door was locked. If people showed up before we started locking down (even if it was technically past closing time, sometimes we got caught up in stuff) we’d have no problem helping them.
But yeah, I see where you’re coming from and I can understand your frustration.
